Care4Care: from precarious to safe working conditions
Kick-off meeting: Caring for the Caregivers: A Project to Improve Working Conditions for Live-in Care Workers in Austria

On 10 February 2023, the kick-off meeting of the project Care4Care was held, in which the CELSI participates as one of the research partners. The Care4Care project´s main focus is on the analysis of the situation of the live-in care workers in Austria, especially on the negative experiences, related to the fact, that the live-in care workers are witness of the injustice in a form of a lack of social security, low pensions, and apparent self-employment of the care workers in the sector. The aim of the project consortium (LEFÖ, IG24, CELSI, FRONT) is to reach two goals related to the social changes of the workers: 1. establishment of a basis for the active and meaningful participation of the migrant care workers in the planning and implementing of policies, and decisions, which have impact on theirs working conditions; 2. safe labour migration and working conditions for 24h romanian and slovak care workers. The kick-off meeting focus on the general presentation of the aims and goals of the project, administrative and financial issues, and the consortium partners did a brainstorming about the about country-specific situations, as well as about the content of the future policy paper and national meetings.
